Eventbrite Acquired in $500M Deal

If you've ever used Eventbrite to sell tickets to a workshop, launch party, networking event, or class, pay attention the platform just changed hands, and the new owner has a track record that's worth knowing about.

A $500 Million Handshake

On March 10, 2026, Italian tech company Bending Spoons finalized its acquisition of Eventbrite in an all-cash deal valued at approximately $500 million. Eventbrite is now privately held, off the stock market, and entering a new chapter under new leadership.

So who exactly is Bending Spoons? If the name doesn't ring a bell, their portfolio probably will.

Meet Your New Landlord

Bending Spoons has quietly become one of the most aggressive acquirers of familiar digital platforms. They already own Evernote, Meetup, WeTransfer, Vimeo, and most recently AOL. Their playbook? Buy established platforms, strip them down, rebuild with AI, and monetize more aggressively.

That's great news for innovation. It may also mean changes are coming for how you use and pay for Eventbrite.

What's Changing?
Bending Spoons has announced plans to add two major features to Eventbrite:

*AI-powered event creation tools that help you build and promote events faster
*A secondary ticket marketplace allowing ticket resales directly within the platform

For entrepreneurs and small business owners who host events regularly, AI-assisted event creation could be a genuine time-saver. Imagine describing your workshop and having the platform draft your event page, suggest pricing, and recommend promotional timing - all automatically.

What Should You Watch Out For?
Here's the honest part. Bending Spoons has a history of making platforms more profitable after acquisition which sometimes means price increases, reduced free tiers, or feature paywalls. Evernote users experienced this firsthand after their acquisition, with significant free plan limitations rolled out relatively quickly.

If you're currently on a free or low-cost Eventbrite plan, it's smart to:

*Document your current plan and pricing so you have a baseline
*Export your attendee lists and event data now as a backup
*Explore alternatives like Luma, Ticket Tailor, or Universe so you're never caught flat-footed

Watch for announcement emails from Eventbrite changes like these rarely come without notice.

The Bigger Picture for Event-Based Businesses
Events are one of the most powerful tools in an entrepreneur's arsenal they build community, generate leads, and establish authority. The platform you use to host them matters.

The Eventbrite you knew was built for broad access. The Eventbrite being rebuilt by Bending Spoons is being built for profitability and AI integration. Whether that works in your favor depends entirely on how they execute and how much of that value actually reaches small business users.

Stay tuned. This one is worth watching closely.

Have you used Eventbrite for your business events? We'd love to hear how you're thinking about this change. Drop your thoughts in the comments or reach out directly.
